There are reports that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has finalised the dates for the next T20 World Cup.

Which country will host 2024 World Cup?

According to ESPNcricinfo, the cricketing body has already shortlisted ten venues in the US and West Indies for next year's T20 World Cup.

Further, the cricket website reports that next year's World Cup matches will be held in Florida, Dallas, New York and Morrisville in America; however, Morrisville, Dallas and New York do not yet have international cricket venue status, which is mandatory.

In consultation with the US and West Indies cricket boards, the ICC will decide on the venues.

A different format will be used for the 2024 World Cup, with 20 teams participating. As part of the first round, the teams will be divided into four groups consisting of five teams each, and the top two teams from each group will be split into two groups for the Super 8. According to ESPNcricinfo, the top two teams from both Super 8 groups will advance to the semis.

"The 2024 T20 World Cup is the first of the eight men's global events in the ICC's next commercial cycle from 2024-31, which was finalised in 2021," the website added. The decision to choose the USA as a co-host was "part of the ICC's strategic planning process".

Teams playing in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024

A total of 20 teams will be divided into four groups of five teams each.
The usual suspects like India, Australia, England, and South Africa are expected to be strong contenders for the title. These teams have consistently performed well in previous editions and boast some of the world's top-ranked players.

However, there will also be several underdogs who will look to make their mark in this tournament. Teams like Afghanistan, Ireland, and Scotland have shown tremendous growth in recent years and could spring surprises against more established cricketing nations.

Other teams that will participate include Pakistan, West Indies, New Zealand Bangladesh, Sri Lanka Zimbabwe Nepal Netherlands Papua New Guinea Oman Namibia United States

Fans can look forward to witnessing high-quality cricket as these teams battle it out for supremacy on the biggest stage of T20 cricket.
